Floral Fridays – Monarch Butterflies

Beautiful Creature – Monarch Butterflies are probably the most recognizable and studied butterflies on the planet.  I am more into dragonflies but this little guy was so beautiful with his big orange wings laced with black lines. He was flitting and fluttering having its lunch on what appears to be some type of milkweed but considerate enough to allow me to take about a dozen or so photos of him this day before it soared away on its journey. After I got home and added them to my collection I thought about him and wondered if he was instead a she and perhaps looking for a safe spot to lay its eggs or maybe just having a snack before migrating. I guess that’s just one of the things that I will never know. 🙂

Glorious! Hi, L. I advocate for monarch butterflies and report my sightings to Journey North. Here’s a link to male/female monarchs https://journeynorth.org/tm/monarch/id_male_female.html Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful photo! 🦋🐛 Bette.
